Day 8: Tower of London & Harry Potter at WBS

Although today started off rainy and cold, it was still a great day! I started it off with another run through Hyde Park, and then we traveled to The Tower of London. We got to explore the actual crown jewels that belonged to the Queen & previous royalty. They were so beautifully designed. We watched the video that showed the Queen’s coronation ceremony, where thousands of people came to watch her get crowned. After that, Rachael, Maddie and I went to Oxford Street (yet again) and shopped for a bit. I went to Ben’s Cookies and got this dessert called “The Cookie Monster,” which happens to be my favorite thing in the world. The cookies they make are so fresh and yummy!! We traveled back to our hotel and freshened up before we took a charter bus out to Warner Brothers’ Studios, where they filmed Harry Potter. The tour was INCREDIBLE. I love Harry Potter, so seeing the actual props they used in the film was amazing. It was also “animal appreciate week” at the studio, so all of the animals from the film itself came, and I even got a picture with Hermoine’s cat and Harry’s owl!! I loved exploring all the rooms where the film took place, including the infamous dining hall that is in all of the films. I spoke with a guy who worked there who was showing me some of Harry’s letters from the movie, and he explained how he was an extra in the film. How cool! I took acting for a few years, so I loved talking to him about his role in the film. He was so nice and I’m glad I met him! We saw everything, from the flying broomsticks, to the wigs and wardrobes worn by all of the characters, to the wands they used and even Harry Potters’ Aunt and Uncle’s house! Daniel Radcliffe even had his own wand, as well as the writer of the books, J.K. Rowling. I even tasted the Butterbeer, which tasted like cream soda. I thought it was good! We then made our way back to the hotel and had a great night! Overall, today was an awesome day and I’m glad I got to see and do so much!
