Day 7: Edelman & Maps

This morning, we visited Edelman PR firm, where some of the employees put on a presentation for us! We arrived in our formal attire, sat down in a business room, and learned more about what the firm does and how it operates. It was such a good presentation and I learned so much more than I had anticipated. What I found different about this company in relation to America is how it operates. Although it is similar in that they both work for the same purpose, Edelman had a much more carefree, relaxed environment. The employees discussed how they set aside time to socialize and interact with one another, both in and outside the office, which I found very delightful and fun. We took a tour through each floor of the office, as the representatives explained what each areas were and how they differed from the rest of the agency. After that, we walked through the rain to the Barbican center, and had a yummy lunch in their main cafeteria that catered a variety of options. I was so cold from the rain, so I ordered a hot chocolate to go and walked around the area, anticipating what I would do next. I found my way to an area of town with a few shops, and ended up going to H&M and a make-up shop. I went back to the hotel and cleaned up the room a little before I had to meet up with the rest of the group. We went to visit a woman who designs her own maps, and they were so intricate and well-designed! They truly showed every aspect of London and I was interested by the story of how she got started. After that, a few of us went shopping at a clothing store and I found a nice leather jacket! We then made our way to a pub, where we had a few nice drinks and relaxed after our long day. We finally went back to the hotel and got some shut eye!
