With newspapers in England, there are two levels. There are national newspapers distributed nationwide and local newspapers whose audience tends to be centered in one city or region.

National newspapers

Within national newspapers there is additionally a two-fold division between what is often called “Quality” newspapers and “Red Tops,” that are sensational and tend to resemble U.S. tabloids like the National Enquirer.
